Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using Paywall Hero. By accessing or using the Paywall Hero Chrome extension, web application, or website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About the Service

Paywall Hero is a browser extension and web app that helps users access online articles. The Chrome extension (desktop) includes Hero Clear, which clears site-specific browser cookies to bypass soft paywalls, as well as Hero Window, Hero Search, and Hero AI Summary. The web app (mobile and desktop) includes Hero Window, Hero Search, and Hero AI Summary. Hero Clear is available on the desktop Chrome extension only. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using Paywall Hero, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@coolapps.llc if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

4. Free Trial

• New accounts receive a one-time free trial of 20 uses (including up to 5 Hero AI Summaries).
• The free trial does not renew and is non-transferable.
• Once exhausted, a paid subscription is required to continue using the Service.
• A one time option to extend the free trial with up to 20 additional uses is offered as a referral reward.

5. Referral Reward

• Each user receives a unique referral link. When 20 unique individuals click your referral link, you will earn one trial extension (with up to 20 additional uses, 5 of which can be Hero AI Summaries).
• For a limited time, you can reduce the requirement for 20 unique clicks of your referral link to just 10 by leaving a review for Paywall Hero on the Chrome Web Store.
• The trial extension is a one-time only referral reward. No additional trial extensions are issued after the trial extension is earned.
• When a trial extension activates, any remaining free trial uses are forfeited and the trial extension period begins with 20 total uses that include up to 5 Hero AI Summaries.
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the referral rewards program at any time.

6. Subscriptions and Billing

• All sales are final. No refunds are issued.
• Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) via Stripe.
• Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
• We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; no partial refunds are issued for unused time.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Service
• Use automated tools to abuse the free trial or referral system
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service
• Use the Service in any way that could harm Paywall Hero or its users

8. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, code, and design of the Service are the property of Cool Apps LLC. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

9. AI Summaries

AI-powered article summaries are generated by the Anthropic API and are provided for informational convenience only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of any AI-generated summary. AI Summaries should not be relied upon as a substitute for reading the original source material.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all websites or browsers.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cool Apps LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Nevada, a Union state in the republic of the United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Clark County, Nevada.
