Terms of Use

Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using Paywall Hero. Paywall Hero is operated by Cool Apps LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Paywall Hero Chrome extension, Android app, iOS web app, or website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About the Service

Paywall Hero is a browser extension and web app that helps users access online articles. It offers four tools:

• Hero Clear clears the current site's cookies and reloads the page. It is available in the desktop Chrome extension only.
• Hero Window opens the article as a fresh visitor in a private window.
• Hero Search looks for the same article published on other freely accessible websites.
• Hero AI Summary produces an original AI-written summary of the article's topic.

The Chrome extension also removes common subscription pop-ups and overlays automatically as pages load. The Android app and iOS web app offer Hero Window, Hero Search, and Hero AI Summary. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using Paywall Hero, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

3. Accounts

Each person may hold one account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@coolapps.llc if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

4. Credits

• The tools are paid for with credits. Hero Clear, Hero Window, and Hero Search each use 2.5 credits, and Hero AI Summary uses 12.5 credits. Automatic pop-up removal is free.
• Every new account receives a one-time grant of 100 free credits. The grant does not renew.
• Credits never expire.
• Credits have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred to another account.
• If Hero AI Summary is unable to produce a summary, the credits for that request are returned to your account automatically.
• We may change the number of credits a tool uses. If we do, we will update these Terms and the prices shown in the Service before the change takes effect. Credits already in your account keep their balance.

5. Referral Reward

• Each user receives a unique referral link. When 10 unique individuals click your referral link, 100 free credits are added to your account.
• The referral reward is earned once per account. It remains available whether or not you have purchased credits.
• Clicks must come from real, different people. Clicks generated by you, by automated tools, or by any other artificial means do not count. If we find a reward was earned this way, we may remove the credits and suspend or close the account.
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the referral reward program at any time. Credits already earned are not affected.

6. Credit Purchases

• Credits are sold in packs as shown on our purchase page. Payments are processed by Stripe. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
• Purchased credits are added to your account as soon as payment is confirmed.
• All sales are final and no refunds are issued, except where required by law.
• If a refund is issued for any reason, the credits from that purchase are removed from your account.
• We may change credit pack prices at any time. Changes do not affect purchases already completed.
• If you delete your account, any unused credits are forfeited and are not refunded.

7. Acceptable Use and Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for how you use the Service, including complying with the terms of use of the websites you visit and with all laws that apply to you. You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Republish, sell, or commercially distribute articles or AI summaries obtained through the Service
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Service
• Use automated tools to access the Service, or to abuse the starter credits or referral reward
• Create multiple accounts to obtain additional free credits
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service
• Use the Service in any way that could harm Cool Apps LLC, Paywall Hero, or its users

8. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, code, and design of the Service are the property of Cool Apps LLC. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

9. AI Summaries

AI-powered article summaries are generated by the Anthropic API from publicly available coverage and are provided for informational convenience only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of any AI-generated summary. AI Summaries should not be relied upon as a substitute for reading the original source material.

10. Third-Party Websites

Paywall Hero is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any publisher or website. Websites change frequently, and we do not promise that any tool will work on any particular website, or that it will continue to work. Your use of a third-party website is governed by that website's own terms and policies.

11. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if your use of the Service creates risk or possible legal exposure for us or for others. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time, as described in our Privacy Policy. Credits in an account closed under this section are forfeited.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all websites or browsers.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cool Apps LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cool Apps LLC, its officers, members, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your breach of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any applicable law, any website's terms of use, or any third-party rights.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming.
